When we discuss health, posture always comes first. Back pain is one of the most common problems in people's healthy lives. Back pain and its root causes often depend on the patient's work and living environment, but also on personal behavior and the medical system. Patients adopt different postures to relieve pain. A posture that is biased to one side can cause joints and muscles to be immobile. Nerves are overloaded, and adopting postures that relieve pain can lead to a lower pain threshold, which can increase pain.

So is it true that EMS training relieves back pain?

A healthy spine has a double S shape. It is composed of lordosis in the neck and lower back and kyphosis in the chest. In addition to these curves, the vertebrae of the sacrum and coccyx are connected to rigid bone plates. The ligaments and intervertebral disc system stabilize the spine and prevent it from being overloaded; on the other hand, the movement of the spine is restricted, especially in terms of forward and backward movement.

About 70% of back pain occurs in the lumbar spine (lower back), where the discs and vertebrae bear the greatest load. This can lead to minor disc tears or even slippage. The resulting pain is transmitted to the brain via pain receptors on the spinal cord.

To break out of this cycle of pain, wear and tear, is the best way to combat back pain with a strong muscle corset to support and stabilize the spine or with EMS training?

The posture, stability and mobility of the spine depend on the muscle structure of the trunk (abdomen and back). If the muscles are well trained, the load on the muscles is reduced and the wear on the vertebral joints is reduced.

How does EMS training help?

EMS training activities can eliminate behaviors and negative reinforcements that lead to poor posture and back pain. The body is better conditioned, rejuvenated and sleep patterns return to normal. The high load intensity during EMS training can reduce pain in a short period of time until it is completely pain-free. Here are some studies showing the effectiveness of EMS for back training:

88% of participants experienced a significant reduction in back pain

After two weeks of using EMS, pain intensity decreased by 60%, and after six weeks it decreased by 87%
40% of participants had chronic back pain before starting training, but only 9% after six weeks. 44% of those with chronic back pain experienced complete pain relief.
