The changes of EMS in abdominal strength endurance and girth were studied:
The participants were 40 adults over an eight-week period.
16 people in the control group were banned from sports training for 8 weeks. 24 people in the experimental group only used EMS equipment during the experiment.
Three sets of data were collected before, during and after the experiment. Each set of data included abdominal isometric contraction force (collected by isokinetic myotensiometer) muscle endurance (ACSM belly roll test), abdominal girth measurement, and participants' self-satisfaction questionnaire.
The results showed that in EMS experimental group, abdominal strength increased by 58%, abdominal muscle endurance increased by 100%, and waist circumference decreased by 3.5cm. At the same time, all participants in this group believed that their abdomen became more compact, and 13 of them (54%) believed that their posture became more upright.
